This past weekend, Emily and I got to go to another retreat with the women of our church. We went back up to Forest Home and it was so beautiful and we had such a wonderful time!
The weekend was planned around the book Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life by Donald Whitney. We watched a few videos and had LOTS of time to just spend alone in reading the Word, meditating and praying. Take all that and surround it with the beautiful mountains and fill it with fun friends and you have one amazing weekend.
This may be the last time we come up to Forest Home due to some of our ladies who can’t tolerate the altitude and uneven terrain. So, Emily wanted to make the most of the opportunity. We spent all Saturday afternoon together doing daring deeds. Well . . . she did and I documented it with the camera.
First, Em joined some of our friends and went on the zip line.
Then she geared up again and went on the ropes challenge course. I did this one the last time we were up at Forest Home and decided this time to stay safely on the ground and document the fun.
Then, of course, it was time to hike to the Clubhouse for some ice cream!
It was a very fun weekend.
It was time well-spent with my fun daughter.
And now, we are home trying to put into words, and practice, all that we learned.
(One last hurrah, on the morning before we left. We hiked a little ways up a trail, saw the deer I had seen the day before and had a brief time to chat before making the prayer time at 7:15 am.)
